Free Thankful Tree Printable for Families
November is a wonderful month to slow down and count our blessings together. Our free Thankful Tree printable turns that into a simple family tradition: build a paper tree on your wall, then add one numbered leaf each day from November 1 to November 30 with something you are thankful for. By Thanksgiving, your tree is full of the people, places and little joys God has given your family.
We painted this version in watercolor, with leaf colors taken from our own paintings like Golden Aspen. Print it at home, gather the kids and make it together.

How to make your Thankful Tree
You will need: the template pages (65 lb cardstock is sturdiest), crayons or markers and a pencil, child-safe scissors and a glue stick, painter's tape and clear tape. Optional: poster board to mount the tree.

1. Print and color
Print the templates, on cardstock if you have it. Use the watercolor pages as they are, or color the black-and-white pages in fall colors.

2. Cut out the pieces
Cut on the solid lines: the 6 tree tiles, the 30 leaves and the banner. A grown-up cuts for children under 5.

3. Build the tree
Lay out the tiles and glue each tab under the next tile so the trunk and branches line up. The finished tree is about 14 in wide and 27 in tall.

4. Hang it up
Tape the tree to a wall, door or poster board with painter's tape, low enough for little hands. Add the banner above it.

5. Write a thank-you
Each day in November, pick that day's numbered leaf and write or draw one thing you are thankful for. Grown-ups can write for little ones.

6. Add a leaf each day
Tape the leaf onto a branch. Use the daily prompts if you get stuck. By the end of November the tree is full!

7. Thanksgiving Day read-aloud
On Thursday, November 26, read all the leaves aloud together, read Psalm 107:1 and pray the family prayer.
“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!” Psalm 107:1 (ESV)
Tip: start your tree on Sunday, November 1, and read the leaves together on Thanksgiving Day, November 26.
